The Purchasing Department for the City of Jackson assists departments throughout the City in making the necessary purchases required to accomplish their jobs. We coordinate the purchase of items from office supplies to heavy equipment, bridge repair and the construction of buildings. Items  $2,000 and under may be purchased without taking quotes. Items  $2,001 -$24,999 must have three quotes and a purchase order prior to making the purchase. Items $25,000 and over must be bid out or proposals taken.

We ensure compliance with all applicable laws and procurement policies by reviewing and monitoring purchases by departments.  Policies and procedures are continuously reviewed in order to improve and standardize the City’s processes while maintaining integrity of the buying process.  Purchasing practices are consistent, open, and designed to encourage maximum competition and best value procurement's.
